Had I the foresight of one day knowing that I would want so much to document my “motorcycle riding life”, I would have been more diligent about keeping pen to paper over the years through which all this has unfolded. Here is a brief introduction to motorcycles whose lives I have been a part of. Any thumbnail that does not currently link to a write-up at this time is ongoing editing work that I will upload when ready.
Although void of many technical specifications and details as we are accustomed to today - due to the proliferation of information/data obtainable , what follows here in my write-up on each of these models of motorcycles is purely from the somewhat vivid memories and experiences I can and am trying to recollect.
And before the memories start to fade, I am determined to capture and preserve what I can.
On this page each of the photo captions are links I have created which will to take you to pages that express my impressions and describe in some detail, technical and other, the handful of machines that I have grown up around.
This listing is by no means a complete one, but merely that of a handful bikes that really formed personally notable impressions on me.
It has been quite a technical journey which greatly altered and shaped my motorcycling life into what it has become today.
Join me here and reach out to me with stories of your own should you feel inclined to do so.
In these formative years although with cameras available, I never had the presence of mind, nor the kind of money required to always have a roll of film on hand and take photos and have them developed, let alone document this aspect of my life that I really enjoyed.
I was too busy riding and repairing!
This has resulted in so few photos I have during this era which are now very very special to me, although the images and some memories I have are still so very vivid.
The human brain never ceases to amaze me in its capacity to retain such details of events and images which have been tucked away in the deep recesses of my brain, to the extent that they have been virtually forgotten till something triggers the remembrance.
I am grateful that at this age I can still recollect what I do.
Each time I read my own journals, its as if I am transported back in time, re-living the experiences all over again.
It is such a warming and wonderful experience that is very dear to my heart.
It gives me great joy, a very special feeling I regard as a blessing.
I try to share with and want others to come to experience and know what it is like - to ride a motorcycle in the great, wide open outdoors.
The things I remember - sights, sounds and smells all come rushing back and the memories result in a big smile and elevated heartbeat in my whole being.
Some of the representative photos I have included here, although almost dead ringers of my machines, are owned by others, made available via the internet - and my thanks goes out to those folks. In the spirit of sharing, it is vitally important that I give credit where it is due.
Clicking on each thumbnail links to a brief write-up of my personal remembrances of them.
Please bear with me.
